The Quintet, who finished third in 2010, are set to help mentor the groups category at the crucial stage, where the finalists for the live stage will be chosen. It is unclear which of the judges they will be helping as details of who will be looking after which category have not yet been revealed.
‘They’re at the top of their game and already have enough experience to judge others,’ the insider said.
Their stint on the show will follow their appearance on the Australian version of The X Factor, where they will mentor some of this year’s acts.
Meanwhile, this year’s UK hopefuls have already run into trouble after reportedly being reprimanded by producers following a post boot camp booze binge. According to The Sun 70 acts were warned about their behaviour – said to involve downing shots and getting intimate with other contestants – which led to them being thrown out of the bar at Liverpool’s Holiday Inn Express where they had been staying.
‘There had been some long days filming and they obviously wanted to let their hair down, particularly as some of them would be going home after Boot Camp,’ an insider said.
‘But when producers found out, they said it was not on – and told them they had to buck up their ideas.’
