Following One Direction Around New York, and Getting Paid To Do So.

The paparazzi always seem to be in the right place at the right time.  Many may even get jealous because of the amount of time they have seen their favorite celebrity, but, have you ever wondered what it’s actually like being the infamous paparazzi or what it may take to get into the profession? Well, we might just be able to tell you from our interview with Justin from @stupidfamous on twitter , who helped to get a lot of the pictures and videos that Directioners were freaking out over while the boys were in New York.

First, let’s see what it was like to see fans from an outsiders point of view.  All can agree that the amount of Directioners in NYC were insane, and so were their actions, which could have lead to even more hurt fans and even put the boys in danger.

“Pretty insane, I’d say borderline dangerous, “ said Justin. “Maybe that explains all the new bodyguards? There’s a crazy crowd mentality that happens when you get 200 teenage girls who are all completely obsessed with the same thing. And when that thing (in this case, the 1D) appears in front of them suddenly, you can expect complete chaos. And that’s what has happened about 90% of the time. You can see it in our videos, but even then you won’t understand what it really feels like when hundreds of people are running through the streets screaming at the top of their lungs. “

Regardless of the chaos, focusing on One Direction for a few days definitely has its perks.

“Working on someone like One Direction is a really fun break from our usual work. Fact is, chasing around 5 boys with massive success and having over 2 million people loving the videos we post online is a pretty cool thing to have happen. When I started doing this stuff, I was a kid around the same age as them, running around New York City and discovering the craziness of it all. So when I see them shooting nerf guns in Times Square, I can relate to that completely,” said Justin.

Along with tips on how it is to be inside the crowd, we also got a few tips on how to meet the boys.  The main point, don’t give up hope.

“Try, try, try, and keep trying,” said Justin. “A friend of ours has 5 photos with Harry Styles, know why? Because she tries to see him any chance she can. I asked her last week if she ever skipped school to meet them, and she said “only once.” — so it can be done without pissing off your parents, too.”

Have you seemed to acquire a niche for celebrities and want to know how someone like Justin got into the paparazzi business?  He also told us how he personally became a paparazzi and what made him want to do so.

“ ‘I was a paparazzi before I ever had a camera.’ Those were my exact words when I setup a meeting with a top photo agency and asked them to buy me a camera and let me shoot for them. And it was the truth, too,” said Justin. “When I was a kid, I started collecting autographs, and eventually started getting autographs as a profession, getting and selling them online. After awhile it became boring, and I became tired of asking celebrities permission to make money. “Can you sign this?” turned into hiding in a car and taking pictures through a tinted window. Why ask when you can take? And it’s a lot more interesting to document history with images and videos than it is to receive a scribbled name on a piece of paper. So that’s that. Who do I snap next? I ask myself every day.”

What do people like Justin do when they are not chasing the world’s biggest boy band around the city you ask?

“Another day, another dollar,” said Justin. “Most of the time the city is slow and it’s the same boring celebrities wandering around the streets. Sarah Jessica Parker, Katie Holmes, crap like that. My favorite celebrities to shoot are the ones who hide, run, and make it difficult. Someone like Blake Lively or Scarlett Johansson or Leonardo DiCaprio. When you’re trying to take pictures of someone that does everything possible to avoid having it happen, it’s that much more rewarding when you win. Ever have Leonardo DiCaprio give you the finger? It’s pretty funny. “

We now know though, that the next time our boys are in the big apple, we have paparazzi on our side to give us pictures, and videos, especially those at stupidfamouspeople.com.

“Would we do it again? Abso-fucking-lutely. We’ll be making videos of 1D for as long as Directioners want us to,” said Justin.

One Direction rejects a condom deal

Our boys, surprisingly, have turned down a sponsorship deal with a US condoms manufacturer despite a very sizeable offer, guess size doesn’t matter.

Sources closes to the band said that the offer was quite substantial and tied to a safe sex organisation in the US. Coming from just one of the biggest brands in the world. Their spokesperson said the deal fell through because the band had felt that their fans age group were too young for this type of product, and they were promoting dolls and games that were what their market audience was buying. However that doesn’t stop them from promoting another item deal for all their student boy-band-loving fans they added USB sticks to their long list of merchandise items.

One Direction’s merchandising arm has struck a deal to release branded USB and Lanyards from Koolstix. The USBs and lanyards are printed with images of the lads and are available at Officeworks.

So our boys have teamed up with the company Brush Buddies to have; yes, One Direction singing toothbrushes that will go on sale outside of North America in the new year.  Each toothbrush will have two songs from the Up All Night Album: “What Makes You Beautiful” and “One Thing” . Brush Buddies made the announcement December 6th, their CEO commented in a press release that they were extatic to announce that they [the boys] were the second music group in their portfolio, they were especially excited about launching in the boy’s home countries of the UK and Ireland. Their products have been known for representing artists in their unique way and the packaging allows customers to play the songs on the brush while maintaining the safe hygenic shell. Brush Buddies acquired the worldwide license to produce these singing toothbrushes utilizing the name, likeness, and the music of One Direction.

One direction is the biggest known global act to emerge from the british-origined “The X Factor.” The group’s two albums Up all Night and Take Me Home have been number 1 on the hit charts in several countries, and One Direction’s headlining tours have sold out. Coming from the singing competition The X Factor U.K. and placing third is making millions not only through their music sales but through merchandising and touring.

The merchandising company, the Wish Factory has several One Direction novelty items that went on sale in September 2012, including key chains, dog tags, earrings, wristbands, dioramas and more. Most of the items are priced at $5 to $15 each in the United States. The Wish Factory also announced in a press release that the company “will also be producing a collection of 1D licensed products for the company’s exclusive Pop Grrl brand, featuring hip and trendy fashion-forward must haves for girls’ everyday self expression.” So Directioners, yes, the boys will be coming out with a clothing line.

Hasbro is selling One Direction dolls and children’s games currently in the U.S., while Jazwares announced recently that they will be producing one direction headphones, clocks, stereos and karaoke machines. HarperCollins set a deal with One Direction’s managers to sell official One Direction books and calendars. Their calendar has been the best seller for two years in a row.

 

1D madness never ends

The boys after their Mohegan show 12/1/12 traveled to NYC to meet up with their family and friends, who were all there for the boys big MSG show monday. It was quiet when they got there but throughout the day Sunday the boys and their families were followed and mobbed. Their families tweeted about being followed and the craziness outside the hotel. All the chaos seem to be virtually infectious as twitter was in a buzz today after pictures surfaced of ‘Red’ singer Taylor Swift hanging out in central park with Harry.

Awh how adorable, though, directioners found the site repulsive apparently as many were against the ‘Haylor’ duo. Other optimistically suggested they were just friends and others supported their relationship whole-heartedly.

In other news Niall Horan was in another mobbing today, remember the mobbing in NYC only a few months ago? Well this time he was inside a taxi

 

These boys can no longer get any sleep as the crowds have even followed them to their hotel.

One Direction and many others confirmed to be performing

Late during the Olympic ceremonies many acts that were speculated during the closing cermonies were confirmed. The boys, One Direction, are one of them!  The Closing Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics is to be held on August 12 . The confirmation came via twitter, when one of the accounts linked to 2012 London wrote: ” It is true … Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Jesse J, Taio Cruz and Tinie Tempah will sing during the closing ceremony of the Olympics . ” Besides those already mentioned, will also perform George Michael, The Who, and Take That, Emeli Sande, Russell Brand, Annie Lennox and The Clash .

Perv posed as Niall Horan and Justin Bieber?

Your parents always tell you to be careful of who you talk to on the internet. This is why a Pedophile befriended teenage girls online by posing as pop star Justin Bieber and boy band One Direction’s Niall Horan.

Simon Hale then persuaded dozens of the girls from the UK, Australia and Denmark into posing naked or topless for him on their computer webcams. Taking control of their computers using a sophisticated software, he then recorded and blackmailed some of them into committing on-camera sex acts for  perverted pleasure.

Don’t worry directioners and beliebers! Hale was yesterday locked up for at least 10 years and warned by a judge that he was so dangerous that he might never be released.

Prosecutor David Gittins told Plymouth Crown Court that Hale, aged 37, had eventually admitted 10 counts of causing or inciting children to commit indecent acts and 12 counts relating to making, distributing or possessing images of those children.

Mr Gittins said that last year, girls heard they could talk to 18-year-old Canadian heart-throb ‘Justin Bieber’ and 19-year old Niall Horan via an internet site similar to a chat-room.

But the man they talked to, who then encouraged them to use Skype, was Hale. When police tracked him down, they found 35 Skype accounts and more than 180 home-made videos, nearly all of young girls and 88 showing them performing various sexual acts. Officers identified 10 out of 33 girls with whom Hale had struck up online relationships.

Mr Gittins said in one case, Hale talked to a girl of 13, who had a cousin aged six. He asked the girl, a huge fan of both singers, to lift up her top and take off her pants, which she refused to do. He then sent her a photo of the real Justin Bieber and told her he had a brain tumour to gain her sympathy.

When the girl again refused to strip, he told her he had already secretly filmed her getting changed and would show her friends unless she did as he asked. Eventually the girl was pressured to strip naked and commit simulated sex acts with her young cousin.

Mr Gittins detailed other similar cases, one girl being made to commit sex acts with her four-year-old brother and others forced into touching themselves intimately. All were aged 13-15.

Judge Paul Darlow told Hale: “By pretending to be someone you knew girls that age would idolise, you inveigled your way into their confidence and in several cases spawned an infatuation with you. There is a significant risk that you will commit more offences, causing serious harm to the public. There is a possibility you will be held in custody indefinitely.”

Outside the court, Det Insp Simon Snell said: “The abuse of Hale’s victims was horrific. He’s a very dangerous and sadistic man; with him it’s about control and sexual gratification. He didn’t co-operate with us in any way.”

He added that Justin Bieber and Niall Horan had both been told of the case, and were “horrified and appalled”.

X Factor UK releases young photos of the boys and Miley Cyrus fangirls over Zayn Malik

Their 2nd birthday come and gone, The X Factor U.K. has released a promotional video for its ninth season, reminding people that One Direction was pulled together on the TV show competition.

Just in case people didn’t know where the biggest boy band in the world right now came from, “The X Factor” U.K. has made apromotional video for its ninth season, with the video reminding people that One Directionwas created on “The X Factor” U.K.

The “X Factor” U.K. promo video, which was released on July 27, 2012, features childhood photos of the five members of One Direction (Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan), as well as footage of the group when One Direction competed on the show in 2010. (One Direction ended up in third place.) Since then, One Direction has become the biggest global act to emerge from “The X Factor,” by having No. 1 hits and sold-out tours in several countries.

All five members of the group auditioned for “The X Factor” U.K. as solo singers but were rejected as solo singers. They were then put into a group by “The X Factor” executive producer Simon Cowell, who became One Direction’s mentor on the show.  Though they did not win the singing competition Cowell later signed One Direction to Syco Music, the record company that he co-owns with Sony Music. And everyone is glad he did.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus, 19, has admitted that she is one of many teenagers who have become obsessed with One Direction. And she has confessed to a particular interest in One Direction’s Zayn Malik, who is also 19.  She tweeted this message on July 27, 2012: “Feel like I’m hangin with a 13 year old girl when I have sleepovers with gays! Weve spent an hour stalking Zayn from @onedirection but gotta admit I love every second of it.”

It’s all in good fun though, since Cyrus and Malik are in serious romantic relationships with other people. Cyrus is engaged to actor Liam Hemsworth. Malik has been  dating Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, 19, since the spring of 2012, and he has publicly declared his love for her. Allegedly. 😉

One Direction’s Up All Night is Platinum

July 26th it was announced from Sony Music Global that One Direction’s Up All Night went Platinum and their tour DVD went triple Platinum.

Considering the state of the music industry, a platinum plaque is very rare and more than meaningful feat than ever before. For evidence, look no further than the fact that One Direction’s hit album Up All Night just became the one of the first albums released in 2012 to surpass one million in record sales, Adele’s 21 was another.

One Direction has had a very successful year so far, with a 6 month tour that was sold out and a mostly sold out 2013 tour they are raking up some cash. Their album never leaving the top 10 of the Billboard charts and their “Up all Night: The Live Tour” DVD has held the number one spot eight weeks in a row on Billboard’s Top Music Videos chart with 223k copies sold.

On December 3, One Direction will have one of the biggest concerts of their career when they perform at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden – a performance that sold out in under an hour.
